When you Walk with Wildsmith, you step into our unique story that began with English heritage, craftsmanship and traditional design back in 1847 but has been reinvented for the modern era with a contemporary twist. We look to express our history and where our journey will take us next by engaging with individuals who embody that same Wildsmith spirit.
For this Walk with Wildsmith stroll, we stepped out with musician, DJ and model Suren Seneviratne. Originally from Sri Lanka, he moved to London in the 1990s where his teenage years in the capital city shaped the man he is today. We find out more about what inspires his music and sense of style.

How did you discover Wildsmith?
I first discovered Wildsmith online through my photographer friend Galih Richardson. I’m a fan of the loafer and Wildsmith have so many great models.
You work in the fashion industry as a model but where did your sense of style come from? What does fashion mean to you?
I’ve come to learn fashion and style mean so many different things and are in no way synonymous. I love clothes and have had various (questionable) phases in my early years, but I’ve always been drawn to block colours and tonal variations. This is a preference of mine that seems here to stay.
You work as a musician and DJ too – how did you get into the music?
I fell in love with music very quickly after settling in London. I didn’t show much interest in it as a child, but I was surrounded by a lot of Black music in South West London and this sparked my interest in DJing.
What inspires your music?
What inspires me to make music is kind of everything. Things that I am listening to sort of subconsciously trickle into my brain. I listen to a lot of music from the past, music that maybe I felt went under the radar. I love giving that kind of stuff a second life.

What do you wear to gigs?
As I perform in quite a few different settings, my gig attire changes accordingly. I’ll always take the opportunity to dress up though!
Is footwear an important part of your look? If so, what styles to you go for?
Absolutely. I like to pay equal amounts of attention to my entire look. I like that smart casual footwear can never go wrong and looking presentable will always work in your favour no matter where you are.
What do you like about the Model 53?
The colour is what drew me to them the most! I don’t own any other pair in that beautiful tan suede colour so I’m excited about blending that into my current wardrobe. It won’t be long before I wear them to a future DJ gig too :)
